Conditions for last nights occultation of Mars were perfect. Mars, although not at close approach was at opposition. the Moon was 100% illuminated, and 62 degrees above the horizon.

The forecast was partly cloudy for most of the night. Below is a time lapse showing the sucker hole that allowed the first shot, but completely obscured ingress.

At this point in the night I thought I was pretty lucky to get anything at all.

Fortunately just as Mars was reappearing, the clouds broke up, and it was clear for several minutes.
