Had some vacation time left in December, so it was time for another chowder run. We left Toronto for Halifax on Wednesday, and arrived on Thursday evening. One night for a seafood binge, and back to Toronto on Friday, arriving on Saturday in time for the Leaf game.
On the way out, our train stopped in Ottawa, and we were lucky enough to catch a ride on Lumi, VIA Rail’s only SCV-42 painted in the yellow scheme reminiscent of the old Turbo Trains.
The weather was foggy and pretty miserable on the first leg of the trip. Fortunately it warmed up and cleared a bit while we were in Halifax. We saw one Geminid while down by the waterfront the night before the peak, and I was able to see two from the train early on Saturday morning despite the near full Moon.
Hopefully next year it’s Churchill
