Made this quick phone mount for using PS Align Pro to perform daytime polar alignments. It attaches to the hot shoe of the camera, and is easily removed after your alignment is complete. This is extremely useful for setting up early to save time when imaging comets. Especially if you’re in an unfamiliar area. It will at least get you close. The magnetic case helps hold the camera in place, and the mending plate used is narrow enough that the camera bulge doesn’t interfere with its level.

Comets can be very close to the Sun before it sets. Always use approved solar or neutral-density filters rated for solar observation. When using optical viewfinders, direct exposure to intense sunlight may cause severe and irreversible eye injury. It can also permanently damage the camera’s image sensor, optics, and shutter mechanisms.
