Lunar Eclipse of 15 May 2022

Lunar Eclipse

Last night we had the first lunar eclipse of 2022. This eclipse was the longest total lunar eclipse since 1989.

I was struggling with clouds all night, and just after totality it was completely overcast.

As the moon approached the meridian, it was so dark that it was barely visible to the naked eye.

Once again I had the pleasure of collaborating with GIanluca Masi and the Virtual Telescope project to broadcast the eclipse to those to which it wasn’t visible.
